Hallowe'en 2010

Last night I dressed as a dead hipster for a Hallowe'en party. Free tequila all night!
To make this post relevant, I'll mention that I made the leggings I'm wearing.

Derby day

Today is the runway show for our racewear outfits. Everyone made one, so there are about 30 outfits in total. Mine is three pieces - a boatneck top with low v back, a matching wrap skirt with front split, and chartreuse silk hotpants to wear underneath. I'd post a sneak-peak but I don't have any photos.

Derby day

I lost integral pieces of the pattern for the 60s mod dress, so I'll need to redraft it to make it up.

I finished my Derby Day dress out of a different fabric than originally intended. The purple space age fabric didn't work out well at all, so I made my top and skirt out of a purple jungle print cotton. It turned out well, but it stretched out when I tried it on the mannequin and now I'm not sure it will fit anyone.

Hopefully today I'll make a pattern for some trousers for myself and maybe a dress for my cousine.

Dress 1 and 2

I'm striving to actually create garments outside of my coursework, so I've drafted a pattern for a 60s mod inspired dress. It's going to be made of cerise wool that I received from my boyfriend's mother. She's also arranged for me to receive a new sewing machine. Hopefully I'll get the dress made up in a timely manner.
I also want to draft a knock-off of this dress. I don't know where to start, though. I'm assuming it's bias cut, which I've not drafted before, and I don't know whether to use my darted bodice with or without my skirt block.

My Derby Day outfit is going well - I've made up the toiles, altered the patterns and cut my fabric, the next (and final) step is construction.

New study blog

If all goes to plan, this blog will keep me motivated to study harder.

Let's ignore the fact that I should be doing homework right now...
